Our First Berner Our Kimaroo. Words cannot express the love we have for our first berner. We are amazed and thankful that we've had so many great years with this wonderful ambassador to the breed. While Kim was never a show dog, never earned a ribbon or conformation placement, she is the champion of our hearts! Although never formerly trained to pull a cart, Kimmy in her salad days, would accompany me to the grocery store pulling a toboggan when we lived up in Manitouwadge, Ontario. She waited patiently outside the store; I would do my shopping, and then Kimmy would pull home the groceries. She was a favourite in the neighbourhood too, as the children would come round and ask if Kimmy could give them tobaggan rides. Kimmy also would haul home the christmas trees. Kimmy bloated and torsioned in her 10th year, while we were at National specialty down in Estes Park, Colorado. Fortunately, Ft. Collins Teaching Hospital was only 1 hour away and we were able to have surgery performed and her stomach tacked. Her recovery was amazing - even the doctors were stunned. She went on to live another 3 years after that. Sadly, arthritis took its evil toll on our beloved Kimaroo and rather than watch her shuffle painfully along in pain, we helped her across to the bridge one month shy of her 13th birthday. We have known perfection with our sweet Kimaroo. Kimaroo's Photo Gallery
